singin' silly songs day
heh! Guess what -- there's a little bit special about this day.

Wheeee :)

I had hoped that my tax return would be here by now, so there could be a little sometin' sometin' ... but it's not. So that will be late, but we are going to dinner tonight. Yay!

That's about it -- I've been going to schools and getting together information for my new venture, that being going back to school. I'm getting more serious about it as time goes on; as I think I said before, I'm sick of this rut I'm in.

Anyway, everyone hoist a glass for me, eh? Have a great day & spare a kind thought for me. It's my birthday!

April 1. We're having some friends over tomorrow. One of them is making sushi for me. *purrrr*

sounds nummy! Just make sure your April Fool's isn't in your sushi ... *grin* it would be a surprise most unpleasant to find fugu where there should be none.

Happy birthday tomorrow, anyway!

The people who love me know better than to prank me, and most especially on my birthday. That's Instant Doom territory.

We can't get raw fish here anyhow. It'll probably be orange-smoked salmon with mandarin slices and cream cheese for filling.

why can't you get raw fish? No asian markets?

I'm not adventurous enough to make my own sushi, so I've never tried.

And there you have one of the benefits of having one's birthday on that particular day :)

Right. Rural area, central Illinois. If I want raw sushi I have to go to a restaurant. There are a few available one or two hours away, so I get it periodically.

At restaurants. Whenever we're in a city that offers more adventurous cuisine, we go exploring. My partner is blessed with a marvelous gift: he can find food of epic wonder, without needing to know the restaurant in advance. He just ... finds them. My latest fix for restaurant sushi is De Coral Buffet in Danville, which has a sushi bar as part of their buffet! With its own sushi artist standing behind a little counter, making sushi and sashimi while you watch. We've been there for a couple of celebratory meals recently. There's a fancy sushi restaurant in Champaign too, but Kamakura is a lot more expensive. I do like their spider rolls (which are actually made with a kind of crab) though.

Hmm. Crab. I'll bet we could get a different kind of crab down here, and that'd be good in the sushi rolls we make.

cool beans! There are a couple of restaurants that offer sushi on their buffet here, as well, but Austin is a bit more urban than where you are, sounds like.

And blessings to you for your partner's gift -- I perform much the same function for mine. You are lucky!

I'm bad about getting things sent on time for bdays and xmas, especially so when R was out of the country. So for years I've told my family to remember two things: One, if it's there on the Big Day, it's not from me! And two, it's not late, it's extending the celebration because you're all worth much more than just one measly day! :D

And Gina's absolutely right, nothing wrong with a birthday weekend!
